> I kind of have to smile when I think of growing up in
Kittanning. I thought it was the best place, then as I got
in my teen, I felt that there was nothing there and that
I needed to be somewhere where things were happening. Well
here I am 43 years old and looking back and wishing I had
stuck it out. You have a wonderful place there. I had the
opportunity to come visit recently and was amazed and a
little sad at what has happened to Kittanning.
It has really grown, the West Hill is expanded that I
almost didn't recognize where I was. Had it not been for the
West Penn Power Plant, I'd have turned around thinking, I was
in the wrong place. This is all good for the area.
However the memories of Main St. of a 14-15 yr old girl
were quite shattered when I realized all the changes there.
I can't imagine how my mother feels, she grew up there
in the early 40's a lot of change for her.
Congratulations also on the movie filming, couldn't happen
to a more deserving community.
Proud to be born and raised there.
Thank you for the great Web page. I check in often
now that I have found you.

I received an email from a young lady doing a school paper on changes in Kittanning over the past 50 years or so. Post your comments here if you will, so everyone can enjoy.
> Downtown businesses have been hurt by new business out at Hilltop Plaza and WalMart, for one, but we haven't dried up like a lot of towns. (a little, yes)
