Just wanted to follow up on my earlier post....I'm not a hater of the Southerners, I just tend to get a little homesick for my hometown every now and then. There are wonderful redeeming qualities that I reap from living in the South, the best of which is that my winters are not NEARLY as cold down here! Sure, every now and then, it's nice to ahve snow, but it doesn't stay around long enough to enjoy, and it's actually more of a nuisance. Our cities do not have more than 1 or 2 snow plows, as it's just not cost-effective, so snow, no matter how much, can easily incapacitate a Southern town!
And, I have developed this strange little accent...sounds like I live right on the Mason-Dixon line...my relatives up North say I talk with a Southern accent, and my Southern friends say that my accent is definitely that of a Yankee. I've been here for 20 years, so I guess I'm stuck with what I have now.
The bottom line: Enjoy what you have in Kittanning... it is a town that is unparalled in the rest of the world, and is truly a unique and special place.
