Panic isn't pretty, so take a deep breath and let it out slowly, then repeat that 4-5 more times. Better?
Businesses go through cycles. When products and services are in high demand, people will buy them and a local economy thrives. When substitutes are available at a lower price or that have other benefits (i.e., oil burns cleaner than coal), those are additional considerations. Check local history books re coal and steel, both needed by the new railroad industry; also check the same pattern in other industries. OK?
Some of what you need is on the county's website, www.armstrongcounty.com and I know there are local history books at the Kittanning Public Library.
Good Luck,
