: : : There are absolutely no players on the current KHS team that would even be looked at for college, at least not at a Division I level. Those players need at least 1 or 2 years of Jr. experience, then MAYBE they would be looked at. The players from our local High school may play club hockey, but that is no way near Division I or close to the NHL. And how do I know all of this??? My son left KHS to pursue hockey in Michigan, and has been playing JR. hockey and has had try-outs for JR. hockey in the OHL, they laugh at high school players, they only look at Jr. Hockey players, and then you have to have a coach that markets the player, and a coach that is well known, like someone that use to be a professional player either in the US or Canada. It is nice for the high school players to dream, and I would never want to burst their bubble, so club hockey is a nice goal, but it is good that they have great academics, because that is what will be providing them a living, not a hockey career. : : : Does anyone know if any of the players for Kittanning and Thomas Jefferson look to be prospects for higher level hockey such as college, Canadian Junior Program, or US National Team? : : : ****Can't speak to the TJ team. But have watched this group of KHS players for YEARS. Do you know that there are 11 seniors on the varsity squad ? In my unprofessional opinion, they are a group of hard-working friends who are stronger when playing TOGETHER. No real stand - alone superstar. I think several of them could go on to play, at least at the college level. Several past & recent KHS hockey grads have done so. I know these guys personally, and most of them are at the top of their class academically, as well. I think most of their ambitions lie in that area. Of course, Adam Toy is a GREAT goalie & he may get some offers he can't refuse. Mike Mercurio also comes from a hockey family - and has expressed some interest in going further. In addition, Shane Troup, Luke Heller, Dustin Kellner, Eddy Germy, Pat Schneider could also receive some interest. But as I said, ALL of those mentioned (and most of the other seniors that contribute to the team) are excellent scholars as well. They know that's where their future lies. Again, their strenth is their unity. Most of them have played together since they've been 5 or 6 years old. They play FOR each other, and know how to play WITH each other. As to future pro prospects......you never know.....keep watching them !! : : Does anyone know of any hockey players that are doing well somewhere else and may have a chance of ever playing in the NHL ?
