: : : : : : Just read Brenda Mauthes' open letter in the Leader Times today(Dec.11th) and I agree with her 100%.Lets start griping about Jobs for our young people, and taxes and better streets in Kittanning. And a better school system. And also stop this childish bickering between our two towns. That will solve nothing.

: : : : :
: : : : : You know something, alot of people agree with that. I agree with that. But how long has this Kittanning/Ford City rivalry been going on? A long time, and I see no end in sight. This area needs jobs, and unless our county goverment and narrow minded people gets their heads out of their you-know-where where will never be anything here. This is why I am leaving. There are no jobs here. I like this area, but I have given up. Maybe if the county would get jobs into their "baby" (northpoint) that people around here are more qualified to do, and Armstrong and FC would get off their Asses and do something with the PPG land, besides building a trail through it!!! Oh ya, Armstrong county needs another damn trail!! Trails are nice, they may bring some people in from out of the area and to spend some of their money here, but it is not going to support the people of this county. So lets spend money and bicker about building trails, a bunch of stupid kids making the front page because of damaging a statue (and you know they are loving it!) and whatever other hoopla that doesn't mean squat! Sorry about the long rant! Haven't done it in awhile, and it feels good!! So long Armstrong, I'll be leaving in a few weeks!!

: : : : The grass is always greener...... other places have some jobs, prices are higher, rent, food etc. I think there are a lot of areas in the country where people are looking for jobs. The first thing you need is some education, it will help in your search. I wish you luck in finding your mecca...

: : : First thing I need is some education? Well, I already tried that and it has gotten me nowhere. This is why I am leaving the area. I have already secured this job I am leaving for and my fiance' is already working for them and he loves it. I have already found my mecca, and it is far from this hole in the earth.

: : The problen with young people today is they think a job is sitting behind a computer all day. Try to hire a mechanical engineer today and thay dont know what end a bolt has the threads on it. An electrical engineer cant solder a wire on a connector or know what ohms law is. Learn a trade get some skills I did and I have been working at it for 26 years now. My daughter learned a trade and is now working at and now is going to college and working her was through it. Call me old fashoned but being able to do something just might get you a job.

: What I am going to do it a trade. I have tried in the past to try and get into an aprentenship (excuse the spelling) but I truely beleive that I was passed up because I am in a female at a age where I would be normally having kids. This was a local company. I don't want to sit behind a computer all day. I had a job like that once, and it lasted 3 days because I hated it. I would rather be on my feet and active all day. And like I said before, I would like to go to trade school, but I do not have the finacial resourses to get through it, like money to live and a good car to make sure I get there. At least I want to work. I know to many people who would rather sit on their ass and make up some excuse to collect welfare and SSI. And they are my age!

Point well taken. I went to Lenape in high school and got into machining. Check out "NEW CENTURY CAREERS" (412-258-6620) for welding and machining if you qualify the tuition is free and is paid by the company that will hire you. Lenape has had this cource in the past. Disclamer: this has been an unpaid passing along of information.
