: : : The man fighting this will NOT run out of money. He owns Penn United Technologies. He is a multi-millionaire. It is still in court. Unfortunately, the newspapers will not report what is really happenning.

: : : The railroad only owned (had a deed) a few parcels. Most was taken by condemnation. It reverted back. You have to check the quarter sessions of the 1800's. First go to the court house and trace your deed back. I have a list of 24 properties in Kittanning Boro.

: : : General Armstrong allotted large parcels of land to the men serving under him. These were very intelligent men. Many were doctors and lawyers. You will see their names on many of the buildings in downtown or streets named for them. Names such asm Colwell, Reynolds, McConnell (museum), Robinson, Brown, Fry, Neubert. The boro ended at Union Ave. North of Union Ave. was farms. They fought the railroad and would not give them a right of way so the property was condemned for the railroad use. When the railroad abandoned the tracks the property reverted.

: : : Conrail refused to enter a rail banking agreement with the AVLT. Call Conrail and ask them. AVLT is a group of 5 men. Two have passed away. So the attorney who is 1 of the 5 wrote up a rail banking and took it to a senior judge in Armstrong County who signed it giving the AVLT a "quick claim deed." A quick claim deed basically says, "you own it but your not sure how much or where the property lines exist." Why did the judge do it? Ask around. Did he receice a parcel of land? STB (governs the railroads) says in order to aquire a rail banking Conrail had to agree. They denied AVLT and would not enter into a rail banking agreement with them.

: : : The founders of Armstrong County protected the property so that decades later people wouldn't have to go through what they did when the railroad went through. Those living along the tracks have the same responsibility to protect it for future generations. Perhaps if the AVLT would stop strong arming and talk to these people an agreement could be worked out and the trail could go through.

: : By an agreement, you mean money , right?? I think that is the whole issue here, some people think they are going to make bocou bucks from this for a little piece of land.

: <><><>Hmm....that's interesting, none of my business, but still interesting...could I ask which meeting the "money issue" agreement came up?? I was at all of the meetings (or so I thought), but I don't remember the issue of money one. Could it be that in reality you are "assuming" things that you have no knowledge of?? Do you recall the meeting that those people along the tracks said to go ahead and put it through, but AVLT said they CAN'T do that unless/until the property owners sign off on it....Now wait a second, I'm confused...some of the people on this board say they don't own it, but AVLT needs them to sign off....so to me, that seems strange because why would the people have to sign off on something that they do not own?? I bet you don't remember that because I seriously doubt you (or too many other people) went to many if any of the trail meetings, otherwise you would know the "facts" and not make statements as to what you think might have happened or is now happening. I never heard the property owners wanting money, however, I HEARD they/AVLT are running out of money all ready but until I hear it from a more reliable source, I do not believe it. The whole trail issue becomes a bit tainted when you have narrow minded "opinions" VS the actual "facts". I know a lot of people did actually take the time to do their homework and put in many many hours of researching that show their ownership. Anyone can do the research if they really WANT to know facts, I did and it doesn't cost anything unless you wish to have copies made, and the best thing is, it's actually fun and it doesn't take a mental giant to do it. But then again, it's less time consuming to just rattle off opinions and hope they sound good enough for some to believe as fact. Anyhow, a lot of the people don't care about the trail going through, they have never denied anyone walking through...they just don't want to sign off on it in case like the railroad, it ever ceases, then they have protected the future property owners. Who knows, could be your children or grandchildren to own those houses in the future. BTW...not that I ever heard of them wanting money until now, but so what if they would want money for their property?? I gotta ask, would you be willing to sign off on/give away any pieces no matter how small of your property? What if the AVLT would like to have a shed to put their tools, bikes, etc in, but don't have the extra space...would you please sign off just a little piece and allow them to put one up?? : ) Pretty stupid to ask such a thing, but seems you don't have a problem with asking other people to give up a piece of their property for your/our desires. :o To my understanding....the actual owners ARE willing to "share" their property with you. Why do you expect them to give it to you??
: Just curious...do you (or anyone else) recall "The Golden Rule"??? I truly do feel for the person having to share their swimming pool and other activities with all of us. That's too bad. I wouldn't want to be in their place, I wish them luck. Hey, maybe they could ask Joe for a place to put their pool....he appears to be generous about giving away property for others pleasure. : )<><><>

Wow, you saved me a little space. Your wish is my command, how much land do you want? My only thought is too make you happy in this life......
