My maiden name is Megan Shotts and I now live in Tennessee. My father grew up in New Mexico and my grandfather, Kermit E. Shotts, grew up in CA. I believe they moved out west during the TB epidemics in the early 20th century. I know that there are lots of Shotts in AL and MS; my uncle Galen Shotts is in Yucaipa, CA and my aunt is in Austin with my grandmother. I am kind of the only one who has moved back to the South. I have never asked much about the family history, but living down here has made me curious, especially since there are only about 350 Shotts in tis country. I did also talk to a Steven Shotts here in Memphis one time about 2 years ago totally by chance when he called on a telemarketing call.
