> In regards to the post from the upset woman who was vandalized by local kids, I just have to say that Kittanning is mild compared to what happens in bigger cities. Unfortunately children today have no respect for other people or other people's property. Whether the children are into drugs or are just "having fun", they can create a lot of havoc, and I really think they don't care. I blame it not only on parents but also on our media; media has desensitized children to violence & everything else. So if you are looking to move somewhere where there is 0 crime and 0 mischievous/troubled kids - I wish you luck. Something needs to be done about this situation, and if everyone hides from it (by moving or ignoring it), it will only continue to get worse. I do not know a solution but if people would put their heads together I'm sure something could be figured out to at least start fixing this problem. Not that any fix will happen overnight, maybe i'm naive. We almost need a world-wide solution that everyone would agree on. (Now that i read that, it does sound naive, but you gotta start somewhere).
The problem is kids are too lazy today to use their heads. I grew up in applewold after school and during the summer we played baseball or fished. We didn't need someone to hold our hand and say see this is a baseball and this is a bat. you throw the ball at the guy with the bat and you the guy with the bat you swing at the ball. We usually used one bat and when it broke we would nail it back together and put tape around it and when the cover came off the ball we taped it up too. Our multimillion dollar rec complex was the playground at the base of franklin ave. Where we had a gravel basketball court and a telephone pole with a hoop with no net. Kids are too babied today and should take the steps to find their own recreation. And quit using the poor ol me crap
