> I am very suprised at the illiteracy displayed by some "Kittanningites" #1 APPLEWOLD IS AND ALWAYS WAS a borough. Not a plebicite from Parking meter heaven across the river but a municipality all its own #2 Linde Aire was not a Chemical Company. They extracted Gasses from the Atmosphere and separated them into useful gases. #thirdly Lenape Sports teams never had games at the Linde Air field, some 1940's and 1950's softball leagues did but baseball was only community kids and their competition. Lastly APPLEWOLD was one great community to grow up in as I did and many other fine people and you do not know what you miss till its gone.

Whoa, Ted.........lighten up on the "illiterate" stuff. My memory may not serve me well these days, but my intellect is rarely questioned, much less impuned.:-))

I referred to Linde Aire (a division of Union Carbide, I believe) as a "chemical plant" as a generic term. One of their reps would visit the Central grade school and do "Mr. Wizard" demonstrations with liquid nitrogen......always fascinating.

Also, I had 2 brothers that played on the Seneca Little League team in the mid-50s and they either practiced or played regular games at the Linde field. I attended these games with my father and the memories haven't faded that much.

Later...........Buss
