HAL is right. Better Dairy was located on Oak Avenue - across the street
from the old Elk Brewery building. Meadow Gold was towards the south end of Jefferson Street. I can still recall the early morning sounds of the milkman making deliveries to our front door (in the late 1950s) - and I'm fairly sure my folks got their milk from the Oak Avenue establishment (Better Dairy). A neighbor of ours was a driver for Meadow Gold. It's hard
to imagine the number of products that were once produced locally, for use locally. Of course, this was before the days of the large corporate producers we're all so familiar with today.
