Jim Scahill told me that I should talk over my ideas for the War for Empire doings with the Tourism office, who seems to be taking their lead from a 6-county committee. I think we will not prosper if we follow Scahill's suggestion.
I have proposed some specific ideas to drive tourism into Kittanning from 2004 through 2010. I have talked with Chris O'Donnell and Mick Livingston at the Chamber of Commerce, Dan Warner at the Ford City Area Business and Professionals Association, Pat Gray from Rodeway Inn, Tony de Filippi from Leechburg Borough Council, and others... THERE IS INTEREST!
Anyone else want to help? Call me or write to me.
Another idea: Send people to 16201.localforall.com and get them to read local stories. Get a few local people to POST stories. Post events! We just finished updating and testing the forms on a too-small budget. Help us test them in real life - it will be appreciated and, if we succeed, we will keep more jobs in Kittanning.

> I think you'll find alot of people agree with you. There needs to be change, EVERYWHERE, and where to start is anybody's guess. I'm sure it's just not Kittanning but all small towns are probably going threw what we are. As for why we don't seem to get jobs here, that's a question for our commissioners. Maybe they have the answer... And I hope whoever wanted to give away popscicles to the children at the Folk Festival does it anyway. I live here in Kittanning and haven't attended the festival for years because of being so compact. I can never understand why you have a park at the other end just going to waste because "committee" people don't think it should be there..I don't think Kittanning will have the probelms that Ford City seemed to have this year with there Heritage Days, but then again you never know..
