> It's not just Kittanning, it's everywhere. The commissioners can't bring any business to Kittanning because there is none to bring. Business are leaving all communities it's just other communities had more to leave to begin with. Factory jobs are becoming a thing of the past. They are moving to other countries because of the cheap labor. Heck just my company alone, over the past 5 years we've closed shops in St. Louis, Lawrenceville, two shops in Braddock and 1/2 a shop in Emporium. But we got a nice big one that we built in it's place in Mexico. You can thank NAFTA for this, put into action by none other than Bill Clinton. The only business that will come to kittanning are retail stores and maybe a new restaurant. Or a Corporate headquarters or branch office of some big company who has all their plants in another country. People need to educate themselves so they will be qualified for these types of jobs.
> Just my thoughts. I see so much on this board with people complaining about the lack of good paying jobs. And the commissioners are doing nothing. There is nothing the commissioners can do. It's the state of the nation right now.
I understand where you are coming from.......I know many companies are heading South of the Border, but this isn't "today". Before everyone started blaming everything on the state of the nation NOW....We have been going this route OUR COUNTY, for the last 10 years.....I had a business in OUR TOWN and it was a profitable business....The last 7 years I saw a drastic decrease in all mom/pop businesses....It is sad..Our County had opportunties that we Missed/Flubbed up/ Didn't have the drive to push on for the taxpayers..... . I don't want to start on the commissioners about it, but I know that we are missing the boat, and JUST because everything is now blamed on the State of the Nation, should we all just lay down and accept it ??? I don't think so..... I agree with you on the flight of big business to Mexico.....I agree with you on alot..But our County is now using "State of the Nation" as a cop out. They haven't produced anything for the people of this county......ONLY retail and that isn't gonna put money in the pockets of the taxpayers, to pay their taxes, to keep their homes, to want to stay here. Eya later........
