Now I just heard they did a big layoff at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital today , and that really scares me...How do you keep moral up when everything is falling apart around here? Is there anything the commissioners are doing to bring jobs into the area.? ..All the graduates are going off to college soon ! What for? To come back here and get a job...? I don't think so.....!
> > > Most all of our 18-35 year olds are OUT OF STATE, working, living, and wishing they could come back in their home towns to raise their young families..But we have nothing to offer them......Plans to build a new school ? For our children, our grandchildren, their children? Where have all the children gone ? Does anyone know where our town is heading?
> > > Then I read "Can't give away FREE popcycles to the kids ! Now come on !How petty can we get ???..........Since when does a town festival committee tell you what you can do as a nice gesture ???? I say , do it anyway.....Sit on a porch , on private property and Be kind..........I just don't know when this will all end, or how it can end. ? What do you think ? I think we need NEW BLOOD that will "GO FOR IT" and let us live again...........Bring in jobs, Cut our Taxes, Quit freeloading, and Produce. Help the young come back and the seniors keep their homes and their pride....... I will close now.....But I am still thinking !!!! Have a great day all you out in Kittanning Message Board Land.........jeanne'
> > I think you'll find alot of people agree with you. There needs to be change, EVERYWHERE, and where to start is anybody's guess. I'm sure it's just not Kittanning but all small towns are probably going threw what we are. As for why we don't seem to get jobs here, that's a question for our commissioners. Maybe they have the answer... And I hope whoever wanted to give away popscicles to the children at the Folk Festival does it anyway. I live here in Kittanning and haven't attended the festival for years because of being so compact. I can never understand why you have a park at the other end just going to waste because "committee" people don't think it should be there..I don't think Kittanning will have the probelms that Ford City seemed to have this year with there Heritage Days, but then again you never know..
> Thanks for the followup......I was just spinning with thoughts and had to write them down....Yes, the park thing always had me baffled too. I lived in kittanning (Wick City) all my growing up years and I loved our town, it was friendly, neighborly, and loved my schools, Mckean building (Kindergarden,4th ward,jr high, and KHS...Loved to go to market street and shop my hearts content...Now when I go down, its only to Theresa Restaurant and not much else to do or see.....It seems the streets rollup before the sun goes down..My agenda is : To meet with the commissioners and see for myself just what is or can be done.....I am just a curious taxpayer and I would love to see/help get something going in this town that will make it shine again....It can be done, Its been done to little towns all over Pa etc...Why not Kittanning ! Get back to you asap I get some answers (???) Lets see !!!!! Have a great day........
GOOD LUCK!! You know, this might be the perfect time to ask questions and wanting to know what the comissioners intend to do since it is almost election time!! I'm sure they will all give you ideas, but let's hope they really mean it and not just for campaigning reasons..
