You do not just get accepted to the State Police Academy/AG's Office/FBI because someone "gives" you a chance. You alone have to pass all of the test, requirements, etc and if you don't cut the mustard, you do not go. These days you have to have so many college credits prior to even applying for the state. Our police dept is very dear to my heart naturally, however, you do not move up any ladder because someone wants to give you a chance. I too in most instances would like to take care of our own, but I am also open minded enough to accept that you do not just give someone such an important position because they happen to live in town. I have not seen the applications and do not have a clue what the vote may be, but IF the one from out of town is best qualified then I would expect our leaders to go with the best for all of us. We should not shun experience and knowledge just because it is not from within. And by the way....so far we have not had to go to another town to get anywhere, we are content here, but if we ever do leave the area, I can only hope we would be accepted into our new location.

I think council should trust in what they have, not take chances with an outsider. KPD officers have done a good job and should be award/promoted accordingly, to the position of chief. They know the needs and concerns of our citizens. Do the right thing council!!
Hey Rob, Thank you, Kittanning is a good town and we have a good police dept,Im not running for any thing and I am not on councle any way shape or form,But I do belive those who work as hard as our police officers do should be rewarded,Or any other dept in this town.
