Just a little attention to details here. As one of German descent and one who studied German and was an exchange student to what "used" to be West Germany, I have to make one small little correction about the whole Applewald translation. The translation itself is correct (Apple forest/wood/land), but the spelling of "apple", auf Deutsch, is "apfel". Obviously, the people who founded Applewald were able to Americanize the spelling. I just wanted to be a little obsessive-compulsive tonight. Bear with me, please! Wiedersehen und guten abend.......

The rich Kittanning Businessmen at the turn of the century decided to build an exclusive community that they were separated from Kittanning but could still walk to their businesses. It was chartered In Dec 1899 and became a borough in Early 1900. The centenial is coming up. If you come to visit, please stop completely at the stop signs. Slow down and enjoy the view. It is one of the most densely populated areas in all of western pa ( at least thats what I hope they mean by saying we have one of the densest communities. More later if anyone is interested.
> Thanks John...I thought it had to do with apple orchards but was not sure.
