ARMSTRONG/SLACK families c 1850

Some time ago I wrote asking about James ARMSTRONG,his wife Eliza SLACK and their children (4 boys and 1 girl known ...no names available)
James wrote to his brother-in-law, Andrew HENDERSON, Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, in 1852 to let Andrew and his wife Susannah SLACK, know that the family had resettled from Ireland to Kittanning. It was the last time James contacted Andrew, that the family knows about.
I am trying to find any information available about this family, or information on where I can look for information, as I have not done any research in the USA.
