: : : This was reported on KDKA News. Here is a weblink: http://kdka.com/topstories/dropout.factory.high.2.415077.html
: : : Kittanning, Ford City & Elderton High Schools all made the National List of 'Dropout Factories' meaning less than 60% of all Freshmen who enter those schools graduate as Seniors. Why am I not surprised? So much for the anti-Consolidation aurguement about the kids getting a better quality of education in smaller neighborhood schools. Wake up folks, even if those 3 High Schools were combined, it would STILL be a small community school. It wouldn't be like it was a Mega-High School like they have in Houston, L.A. or Chicago... the type of High Schools they use for the small VS large school statistics. Again, even if ALL the ASD schools were combined it would still statistically be a small school. Then we could proudly have just one Dropout Factory instead of three. Most of the other 'Dropout Factories' in the Nation had large minority enrollments, what's the excuse here in ASD?
: : ARE YOU SURE FORD CITY IS ON THAT LIST?
:
: According to the Patrice on KDKA news at 11 it was Kittanning, Ford City & Elderton.... West Shamokin was NOT mentioned by her.
I stand corrected, Even though the news lady said Kittanning, Ford City & Elderton, the list on the 'net says Kittanning Senior, Elderton Junior, West Shamokin Junior (if its a study of Senior High schools why are Junior Highs on the list?)
