Saw that David Wiegand was found not guilty of all the aggravated assault on police felonies and recklessly endangering police officers as a result of the police chase with the staties out in Rural Valley last fall. (Of course, he was found guilty of DUI and fleeing and eluding and resisting arrest.) On the most serious charges, though, he was found not guilty.
Looks like a big loss for Scott Andreassi (again) who prosecuted the case personally (yes, that's a shocker, I know.) Andreassi said in the paper that the result was "what we expected." Yeah, right. If he didn't think he could convict on those charges he would have offered a plea bargain to the lesser charges. Scott must have thought he had a slam-dunk, but he was the one that was slammed.
