Title: Kittanning Promotes Drinking

"To the Editor:

I was disgusted when I read the June 5th Leader-Times headline, "Frerotte fund-raiser to bring beer to Riverfront Park at annual community event."

What was Kittanning Borough Council thinking? This event is advertised as a family event. Council, by approving alcohol at this event, has openly endorsed drinking alcohol as a family "thing" to do. It is one thing for a local business to promote drinking, but for a government entity to do so is outrageous. Is it any wonder our teenagers think it is OK to drink?

I hope every Church leader in Armstrong County encourages their congregation to not attend this function
