: : Its rare to see a debate in a public forum not involve a personal attack. You're not stupid, you know that.
: : Read your post, its like you're setting forth rules to debate by.. thats ridiculous.

: Umm, yea thats pretty much what I'm suggesting. That is how it is usually done by the way. Two or more opposing sides sit down and hammer out some rules or guidlelines that they can agree to and there is a moderator who reminds them if they stray beyond the agreed upon guidelines. That is not censorship, its done so that the debate stays on topic and allows all sides to express their views on the particular topics. If you don't do that, it quickly becomes so convaluded (sp?) that no one remembers what the heck they were debating in the first place.

: Attacking people personally takes away from the content of the debate. Of course it happens, but I for one find it very frustrating to listen to candidates or whoever trying to one up each other rather than actually presenting ideas with substance.

: I totally get the fact that some people on this board couldn't care less what I think. I'm not real sure how I got to be such a bad guy all of the sudden though. I'm not trying to tell people what to think or say. All I've suggested is some ways to bring the level of discussion up a notch or two and maybe even reach the point where we can actually accomplish some things rather than just busting on each other. I realize that that is not everyone's goal and I respect the fact that some people just want to come on here and have a good time. I don't have a problem with that. I would just like to find a few who might want to give it a try. Obviously we will disagree and have lots of differing view points. That is a good thing. Out of all those opinions and ideas it might just be possible to come up with some plans to help this area out. I think most people on here would agree that some help and some changes are needed in the county if we want something more that a ghost town here in a few years.

Sreiously Brian...Bring the the discussion up a notch? Accomplish some things? Let me intoduce you to somebody...THE FREAKING INTERNET BROTHER! Welcome to the haven of those who want to sit on their asses and bitch. Isnt it about time for another thread about the SuperWalmart? Or school consolidation? or "what's going in where the old theater was?"
(BTW...I heard the old theater is either going to be an old folks home, a dollar store, an archery range, or an Arby's...and that from a reliable source)
