: : : : If the district decides to move towards a smaller school system as some of the folks want, then Worthington would like to be put on the remodeling list and reopened. Worthington could graduate more students than Elderton does and we quite possibly graduate as many as Ford City. If the anti-consolidationist truly believe in their studies they present, then it should be no problem getting those board members to vote to re-open Worthington. If the community schools are good enough for Kittanning, Elderton & Ford City...Then I say lets pull the Worthington Bison mascot out of storage. And by the way I do believe the worthington building may be in better shape than the ford city building so it might even cost less to remodel. I can tell you as you know I am a proponent of consolidation, but I think if it ends up Kittanning, Elderton and Ford City keep their school I will be at every meeting then demanding Worthington get their pride back.

: : : So true...point well made...and don't forget the Spartans and the Bulldogs...maybe EAst Brady would want a chance to return. It just shows how insane it is to try to keep affording all of this in a low socioeconomic area. Where would/will the insanity end?

: : just for the record:
: : Class of 2007 graduates
: : KHS - 115
: : FCHS - 87
: : WSHS - 69
: : EHS - 35

: If the above numbers are true, what has happened to our kids? KHS used to graduate more in one year than the total of all four schools this year.

: As for Worthington, Worthington was the first school Solak closed after running on his Save Our Schools platform and when consolidation occurred Worthington was the only district with a surplus and no debt. We were snookered.

There was a doctor out in the Worthington area who bought into the consolidation theory. Do not blame Solak. Solak is only one vote. These same people sacrificed Worthington trying to get a super school. wanted Worthingtom closed for the super school with dollar signs in their eyes.

I think now we are seeing the yearning for consolidation, and it has nothing to do with the kids or the tax dollars.
