: : : As a former prison employee I would have to say I'm glad you weren't running the place when I worked there. What you don't ever want is a bunch of angry, frustrated, borred inmates. The ones who stay involved in lifting, sports, music, etc..stay out of trouble and the environment is thus much safer. Believe me - prison life is extremely rough and unpleasant. I am not in any way a bleeding heart who wants to give them all hugs. It should be hard but it shouldn't be torture and it shouldn't be an environment wherein the employees are in danger at all times because of the way the inmates are being treated.
