: : Okay here is what is up, inmates are more apt to commit crimes in armstrong county based on the prison system here. Inmates have told me that if they have to do time, they want to do it here rather than Butler, Indiana, allegheny, or westmoreland. They say that it is because the Armstrong Jail is easier time. That being said the other counties are easier to do probation (paper time)than armstrong due to the fact that the probation dept. in other counties won't commit you to jail for (hot) urine and they do not want to see you for anything as long as you send your monitoring fee. I must commend the Armstrong county Probation Department, they seem to keep a close eye on their clients.
: : Everyone seems to know alot about the system, but as any member of the security staff will tell you, you cannot go around beating inmates or abusing inmates because of the public outcry. Anytime an inmate cries abuse, the state police investigate and the public gets involved. People always seem to think that the jail is too easy or that the inmates are pampered. well they are but it is because the county will not back the officers at the jail. And the public is bipolar. No one can say that inmates should be beaten. Because 90 percent of the inmates should not be beaten. Warden Hogue is not tightening the jail down to make it harder on the inmates, he is making changes to save taxpayers money. It is just like everywhere else, it is about the budget. I hear the people on here talk about the murderers and the violent crime inmates and they say that they should be beat or locked down. You have zero knowledge about facility operations. Officers in facilities do not care about what an inmate did to get into jail, only what they act like while they are there. The best inmates are those who know that they are going to be in the system for a long time and that they need to make life easier on themselves. The idiots in jail are the disorderly conduct people that are in for only a little while. So I have an idea, let's Beat only the people who commit misdemeanors.
: : That does not make sense either does it. If you would like to make a difference, find a way to get an inmate a job after their release. And I don't want this to spin into an economy thing, but what it boils down to is, many inmates have a chance to rehabilitate, but if you leave them with these career criminals you will have bred another criminal. "It is hard to soar like an eagle, when you are surronded by turkeys."
: : Just my eleven cents.
:
: :those who don't understand this probably never will because they are locked in to their own arrogant, self rightous way of thinking. "I am not a criminal, I am better than those who are and they should all be treated harshly because they are worthless drains on society." Until the script gets switched they can't look at it any other way.
: At least there are people who understand who are working there and running things. Thanks for backing me up and try to clarify some of the things I was tryihg to say. In case my sarcasm was misunderstood in previous posts, I am 100% in agreement with you.
Wow...Lots of opinions on this. I am not saying we should beat prsoners. I actually mixed up corporal and capitol punishment. Although I might add the canings in Taiwan definitely deter crime. I do know alot of what goes on in the county jail. unfortunately I have a brother in there now. He was unfortunate enough to become a heroine addict while doing time in several state pens. I would find it hard to believe there are many people in the jail for stupid mistakes. I can not classify..robbery/rape/theft/murder/forgery/dui/assault or manslaughter as stupid mistakes. If someone had the time to really dig into it, I am sure they would find that a large percentage of inmates are repeat offenders. My thoughts are simply allowing the individuals to do county time does truly offer a big enough deterrent to crime. I have no plans on going to jail. in fact probably the only thing that may cause me to go to jail is if someone does a STUPID crime like dui and kills one of my family mwembers. I do not mean to sound self rightous, but the county jail is just a turnstile for petty criminals..In and Out. And that in my opinion is no fault of the county jail or it's employees. I am sure most of them do a fantastic job. Like I have said, I have family members and friends that work there or have worked there. I am glad to see that warden Hogue is making their stay less desireable than it was under Warden Laughner. It is a good start. So my thoughts are not to beat them, but take away the cable t.v. Let them read books to try to better themselves if they want. Nobody does county time over two months. Pretty simple. But of course I will qualify these as MY opinion. I am not out to win a debate. also so there is no confusion..I post under gotoutofdodge. None of the posts on here under other names are mine. some of them are way out there.
