: : : : : : : You're kidding me right???? All politicians lie you idiot.
: : : : : : Um...no, not all.
: : : : : um...yeah..they do.
: : : : show me a politican who doesn't lie...just one
: : : That would be impossible, but not just because all politicians lie. The fact is that all human beings lie. I'm quite sure that the person calling people idiots has lied in the past at some point. I am equally sure that the person defending the politicians has lied. I know I have lied, and if you're reading this I am sure you have lied too. I'm not saying we should condone it or allow it to go unpunished when it is exposed. I would suggest that maybe we try not holding anyone to a standard that is unatainable by anyone and then focus on the real issues and how they are being handled by individuals.
: : Now there’s a defeatist attitude. Why can’t we expect politicians to tell the truth? We expect that from certain professions like police, clergy, teachers, etc. Why can’t we expect and demand a higher standard from the people who work for us!
: Everybody lies. Sometimes intentionally. Sometimes unintentionally. Perhaps what Jamie Owen should have done is just to explain how and why he changed his mind, rather than ignoring it as if it didn't exist. I think that's all the people would expect, and the least that they are owed. I think people understand, but want the person to acknowledge their mistake.
As to Jamie Owen "changing his mind", his intention was to fulfill the complete term as Magisterial District Judge. At that time, Judge Nickleach was still sitting on the bench and not indicating that he would be retiring. When Judge Nickleach announced his impending retirement, Jamie was approached by many people suggesting that his skill, expertise and experience would be an asset to the bench in Armstrong County. After months of weighing everything, he decided to run. He knew that the full term would be an issue and has always given an explanation to anyone who has asked him.
