Here is an example of the frustrations people have toward our wise
public officials:
A man from Pittsburgh area bought a 20 acre property with small house in
Kittanning TWP about 10 years ago .. he and his wife both work in
Pittsburgh area .. they have no children .. both are in late 30's .. they
have paid the place off and added buildings
If something happened that they couldn't pay the property/school
taxes .. they could easily LOSE their land and house at auction .. even
though the land is paid for .. they bring the money they earn in
Pittsburgh HERE to spend and keep stores and resturants open .. helping
keep people employed .. they have NO KIDS in school (never did) .. they
pay township taxes to maintain roads, they pay state and federal taxes ..
but the County Board and the school district could oust them.
There are people RENTING places in the county .. have 3,4 or 5 kids in
school .. many on assisted living .. they get HUGE refunds on federal
taxes (child credits) .. but they pay NO school/property taxes
It is like the system is punishing those who care enough to OWN property
by holding their homes for ransom in order to help pay for some who abuse
the system
I am 32 .. no kids .. TRYING to pay rent and stay in this area .. but I
have to go 50 miles to Cranberry to find work .. I can barely cover
bills .. no CHANCE to purchase property and get established .. taxes would
put me under .. but people my age with 5 kids can get more help than they
deserve .. no incentive to try because they make more doing less !!
That OTHER Jim seems to be sitting good .. he can run around local bars
a bitch to high heaven about that WEASEL Roddy and the political
weaknesses in the county south of us .. he can ACT like Santa for the
movies .. he can hand out money to those who claim to NEED it .. but does
he check THAT list for whose been naughty or nice ??
We have spent a few weeks here kicking around ideas that require new
actions and thinking .. new blood to take up the fight and advance to next
level .. maybe BEFORE we take on new challenges .. we really SHOULD step
back and see what we can do to sure up the OLD FOUNDATION before we go
building too high ??
