Contrary to what many believe Richard Nixon was not impeached, he resigned prior to impeachmnet hearings by the House and Senate.
William Jefferson Clinton was impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives on Dec. 19, 1998.
He did not resign prior to impeachment hearings as Nixon did.
He was aquitted by the Senate on Feb. 12, 1999.
The perjury vote was 45 guilty/ 55 not guilty.
The obstruction vote was 50/50.
A 2/3 majority is required to convict.
Andrew Johnson was also aquitted by the U.S. Senate, just one vote short of a 2/3 majority.
