It is great to see the response to the idea of renewing the old Kittanning. As for Jim's question about getting official standing as a committee, may I suggest that a committee gets to be "offical" by talking, working, pushing. I began a vision committee in my county by soliciting help from other like-minded individuals. We met to define our goals and prepare a presentation. We each took turns speaking to any organization that would allow us on their program... Chamber of Commerce, Ladies' Club, Rotary Club, Economic Development Council, etc. We prepared forms to solicit more members to our group and distributed them at each meeting we attended. After about six months of really hard work and preparation, we had a group of over 60 faithful members, which we divided into committees with responsibility for developing plans for each aspect (economic, environmental, funding, etc.) We put public notices of our meetings in the newspapers (free of charge) and radio stations aired our meeting notices. We contacted local reporters who did stories on our efforts. We were finally heard by the County Commission and were appointed an "official" committe to enact our goals.
So.....if you really want to be an official committee, all it takes is vision and hard work.
