Seeing as how this debate has taken a positive turn, I would like to add
some information.
Years ago, when the 'new' riverfront park was just an idea, a program was
broadcast on local t.v. While I can't remember the specifics, I do know
that someone had drawn up some sketches of Kittanning with ideas for
improving the appearance of the town. One idea incorporated planting
trees around the downtown business district, kind of surrounding it. I
think there was a Victorian theme to the plan... One focal point on
this 'necklace of trees' was the old train station. The drawing showed
the station as a cafe, with a lovely outside dining area.
I don't know if these ideas will materialize in the near future, but they
have been presented. Could be that the park was the first step, and more
will come as funding is available.(?) Can anyone else remember seeing
this?
