THIS is the kind of thread we needed to help everyone focus on THINKING
about ways to accomplish things .. not wallow in bickering and bashing ..
The Train Station and "Cruisin' Town" theme ideas are good in my book ..
maybe get some old engines to display for kids to climb in/on (like old
caboose that was (is??) at Freeport Community Park) .. of expand the
Cruise Night activities we already have to include more events (concerts,
dances, movies, plays ...)
Maybe develop something (besides the Folk Festival) around our Native
American and Fort Armstrong histories .. a native theme village or
reconstructed fort type thing .. crafts .. battle re-enactments .. yada
yada
I LOVE the idea of having a Grant Manager type position .. possibly
within the current Chamber of Commerce or Town Council .. maybe a
Heritage/Tourism Council type thing
There are many industrial and commercial plans coming into reality in
our county of late .. now might be the PERFECT time to begin focusing on
the more recreational or leisure type needs of the area .. not that we can
RELAX the push for solid, industrial economic progress .. but we don't
want to have a huge lug between attracting jobs and/orworkers to the area
and providing them with things to do AFTER work.
