: : What % of the kids are already bussed to school? And although taxes are not not going down, they are not going up. That is the key factor.. Less buildings means less utilities/less staffing in cluding janitors and teachers and lunch staff/less building upkeep and preventative maintenance/and there are more savings than that when you sit and think about it. So the bussing cost going up will be nil.

:
: I pretty sure you're a teacher, so you probably can't understand te basic math behind the fact that it will take more fuel to bus the kids longer distances. For example, it will take more fuel to bus a kid from Shelocta to Kittanning than it does to bus him from Elberton.
: This doesn't even count all the kids who walk to and from school, that would have to be bussed. Odds are if the build some super school, they'll want it out in the sticks somewhere where almost all the kids will have to be bussed. That means we would have to pay to bus virtually all the kids who are now within walking distance of the curent schools.
: How do you figure taxes aren't going up?
: Less buildings does not mean less utilities.
: We all know there won't be fewer teachers.
: Preventative maintainance!?!?!? I don't even think the school board knows what that is! Why else would they have allowed hecurrent buildings to get in the conditio they are now in so little time? Why would you think they could maintain a super school any better?
: Bussing cost going up nil? See above. By the way "nil" means zero.

I don't understand what you mean by bad school conditions in so little time. you must be quite old if you call the 20 or so years ago that KHS was renovated a short time. the junior high was renovated, even before that, in the early 80's and West Hills never went through any major renovations, till this past year, since it was built in the 70's. this may be a short time to you, but when you consider just the traffic of thousands of kids passing through these schools, you should realize that things get broken and wear out.
