: : : : Just a friendly reminder to all the School Board will be meeting at the Ford City High School at 6:30. Everyone who kinda felt left out when they missed the last meeting should try to attend. I bet tonights will be a Barn Burner. Can't wait to read everyones opinion of it on the board here tomorrow. Good Luck.

: : : Slightly more people than the meeting at Kittanning last week, but several of the same suggestions...consolidation.
: : : Of course Jim Solak disagreed saying community schools are the way to go. Also, Ford City Council voted today at a meeting to ask the ASD to keep Ford City HS in the borough. Homer Pendleton read the letter at the meeting.

: : It is extremely refreshing to hear that people at the meeting from FC are finally willing to stand up for what is best for our kids...consolidation. I hope the Solakians can finally open their eyes and quit trying to save dumpy buildings for the sake of nostalgia.

: Solak would never give up his cause because he would feel like a loser. He is not real big on compromise.

Most of the people that were there talking consolidation were from Kittanning. The main issue seems to be that people think they can have a big new school with sports complexes including a swimming pool and all their problems will be solved. I heard comparisons to Butler, Freeport, etc. Our district is so large in area that we could fit all those districts and more inside our borders. There is no comparison. The only people that would make out would be the bus companies. The consolidationists on the school board would never give up because then they would have to admit that Solak has been right all the time. He pointed out how many schools we have closed so far and our taxes have never went down. The people that showed up speaking about consolidation had their minds made up before they walked in the door. Most people I know against consolidation aren't showing up at the meetings because they say they've told the board for years and nobody listens.
