: : : : : Dispite rumors abound, the Steelers have not yet decided on a new Head Coach, which will replace Bill Cowher, who recently resigned. Who do you think the new Head Coach will be? Who would you like it to be, and why.
: : : : : 1). Mike Tomlin, the defensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings
: : : : : 2). Ken Whisehunt, Steelers offensive coordinator
: : : : : 3). Russ Grimm, Steelers assistant head coach
: : : : : 4). Ron Rivera, Chicago defensive coordinator
: : : : Star Trib announces Grimm, you must like Tomlin to have him listed twice, you big dummy Whisenhunt has accepted the Cardinal job already
: : : :Sports Illustrated announced Tomlin yesterday so I guess everyone is jumping the gun on this one. I would like to see Tomlin get the job but I think they will stay in house and give it to Grimm. Whisenhunt was my first pick but that isn't going to happen. Money talks and I don't think Rooneys want to dish out too much.
: : Big dummy? LOLOL Whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you.
: : Anyway... yes, I did mistakenly post Tomlin's name twice, and not because I favor him. In fact, I'm undecided about him for several reasons, one of which is I don't know how well the fans will accept a black head coach. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but historically... Steeler fans were pretty rough on Cordell Stewart (when he was quarterback) and I head a LOT of racial comments about him (which were not deserved). Professionally, I'm not sure Tomlin is what the Steelers need since they seem to be struggling offensively and Tomlin has made his way in Defense. He did very well coaching the Tampa Bay Bucaneers, and the Steel Curtain lover in me enjoy seeing a renewed strength defensively.
: : Ron Rivera obviously has done a great job with the Chicago Bears' defense. I kind of like the idea of getting a coach which would meld into the area's personality well and I think Rivera, having delt with Bears Fans, would relate well with Steeler fans. But, again, it's defense and we need help getting points on the board.
: : Russ Grimm wears 4 Super Bowl rings and that is impressive. His focus has been, of course, the offensive line, but one could argue that since that is wear our weaknesses are, someone else should be considered. Still, he's a local bread and raised fellow, like Cowher, and I do like that. Additionally, the players seem to like him and want to do well for him as well as themselves.
: : I know Ken Whisehunt had been eliminated. I kept him on the list just for opinions on whether or not you would have like him.
: : By the way.. yes, the Trib AND Sports Illustrated jumped the gun with announcing who the next coach is. The Steelers had a press conference as late as this morning and have denied making a decision. Until I here it from Rooney's mouth... I won't believe anyone.
: : more reports were released saying Tomlin was offered the job and accepted........and the winner is?
Da, undie says Whizenhunt- what a deadbeat.. he signed days ago with Arizona
