Yes, opium was very easy to get, but I was comparing how alcoholism rates rose each time there was an economic downturn but fo course over government tells us this a robust economy even though more and more families and people are falling below the poverty level.

So no, I was not comparing illegal in as much how both illegal drugs and alcohol are abused during stressful times. I am sure there are no records of the usage of the illegal substances back in those days, but I bet it would be some very interesting information.
