We are not against sports players and owners, we're against paying millions in tax money to build stadiums so the Rooneys and McClatchy can make millions. It's called corporate welfare. If they build those stadiums themselves, nobody would be saying anything. The Pens can build their new stadium also, if not, then Mario Lemieux can leave anytime.
:But that is ok, we are only against sports players and owners.
: Nobody wants any of their tax dollers going towards a sports arena that will actually create jobs and bring in ton of revenue...
What jobs are you talking about? Most are all low paying jobs. Ticket takers, janitors, ushers, consession workers, hot dog salesmen, etc. What revenue? Ticket sales go to the players, owners and coaches. The amusment taxes mostly go right back to the sports team. Hotel room costs go to the owners. How does all this help Pittsburgh or the area. There have been many studies that say sports teams actually hurt cities, not help them. Some of the fastest growning cities in the United States have NO SPORTS TEAMS.
