> Husband and I went and saw the Mothman Prophecies this evening and I have to say that I disagree with some of the posts here, it is my opinion that is was truly a fun to watch movie creepy movie. If you like the XFiles, you will likely enjoy this film. But then I very often find myself enjoying films that others do not, so this is right in like with that I suppose. Got a big kick out of the first scenes showing Kittanning and an even bigger kick out of hearing the audiences reactions to it as well. It was quite a surreal experience I have to admit, having lived here all my life and never seeing my town portrayed on screen in that way. LOVED the bridge scene and I told my husband that I will likely always have that in mind now anytime we cross it at night. I am VERY PROUD that my little town was so prominently featured in this film and I have to say that even if it had NOT BEEN, I still would have enjoyed it. Just my humble opinion. :)
Good comments, Tracie. Realizing that some will like the movie and others will dislike it, my opinion is that it was a very good movie. Just watching the scenes depicting various areas in Kittanning was special--the bridge, the Court House, the Pub, Sherwin Williams, etc. I think Richard Gere is a great actor ( and very handsome, too), and Laura Linney was even better. Watching the scenes of Kittanning in a fairly publicized movie was a special event that we may never be fortunate again to see. I want to see it again to really concentrate on people that I may have missed and then I will purchase the video when it comes out. We were watching them film the movie almost every night that they were in town and now seeing the movie makes it all the more special--yes, there were scenes that were cut out, but oh well.
Life goes on and just being part of that all is a great and lasting experience one may never have the opportunity to have again. Let us be grateful for what we have and try not to look on the downside.....I encourage everyone to see the movie and judge for yourselves. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.....
