: : : : : I see where PITG won the slots license in Pittsburgh, the Penguins favored the Isle of Capri. I also read where the slots parlor that opened last week was a huge success.
: : : : LET'S SAY GOODBYE TO THE PENGUINS - NO GREAT LOSS - JUST A STRAIN ON US TAXPAYERS.
: : :
: : : Missy I agree,Let them go, They are trying to milk the tax payers out of millions Let them spend some of their own money As far as the Steelers I dont belive they are worth what they got,Maybe we could get some thing in here worth while. Im glad thing's went the way it did.
: : Hey let's just let the pastures grow up again, get some cows, goats and chickens in here, then we'll be all set. Who needs hundred million dollar businesses around,eh?
: : Do some of you folks have any idea how much revenue these sport teams bring to the area. The last thing we need is to bleed away the last few attractions that western PA still has. As for the %&%^$ lying , cheating *$^^$ legislatures in PA who put us in this mess....well I'll hold my tongue because I could be arrested for saying what I believe we should do to them. JMO.
: Ket's see something worthwhile, maybe another Dollar store!!!! How much of your tax dollar goes to the sports teams? It is not your local taxes, your school taxes, it is your PA taxes. I bet the actual dollar amount is very miniscule.People are funny, they don't want any of their money going to a sports stadium, but they will pay $75 to see a concert there. Their taxes go to fund legislators and other government employees fat pensions and full medical benefits. But that is ok, we are only against sports players and owners.
I continue to be amazed at the the parochial response and small mindedness of some folks. The fact of the matter is that a new Multi-Purpose Arena WILL be built in Pittsburgh in the next few years. This is with OR without the Penguins. The choice today was will some or essentially none of our tax dollars be required - and the politicos chose some. Many residents of Armstrong County enjoy going to Pittsburgh to expand their horizons, rather then hiding and complaining. I love where I live, but don't believe that nothing exists beyond Kittanning. As for building an arena here, c'mon, many of us do not even take advantage of (read: be willing to pay for participation in non-profits like the Y, going to the Belmont. There is more to life than Walmart) what we have in our region. Folks - enjoy the Penguins while they are hear. Cheer, cheer because they are going to Kansas City, or some other high bidder. A loss for the area and a loss of culture. Instead of investing and becoming a progressive region looking to the future, we are becoming more regressive - looking to a past that will never be again. Not the fault of government or large employers, but our unwillingness to grow.
