Each time a team wins a Super Bowl the owners traditionally buy "Super Bowl Rings" for the players and staff. The Steelers have won 4 previous Super Bowls and this being the fifth would mean that since they have four rings for the four fingers on a hand, this ring would be "one for the thumb".
