After months of interrupted service and no help from the customer service department, I have finally cancelled my Verizon DSL service. The speeds were never even close to what was promised and outages were just too common. After a little research I have come to realize that my experience is not unique; Verizon's DSL service record has been generally sub-standard. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that there are groups out there dedicated to helping consumers fight back. One in particular seemed to have the most resources on one place. It's for a group called Pennsylvanians for Local Competition at http://www.localcompetition.org. I used the site to write letters of complaint to my Pennsylvania legislators, Governor Tom Ridge, and the PUC. It also has news and press releases about recent developments in the DSL industry that affect us as consumers. Anyone who has had problems with Verizon DSL or is considering getting Verizon DSL should visit this site.
