: : : : : : In another post I was asking why I had to pay for the medicare drug program if I dident need it,now I see on the news where the government hired all these big insurance companys to sell the program, I dont remember who made the post but you were right, these big companies are going to make big buck to force us to take the program and we are going to be paying them they dont care if I drop my coverage or not,the government will pay them for the loss, and they also know that a poor guy like me cant afford to drop my coverage. so they have you by the ass on the down hill drag.

: : : : : From what I read the plan is a loser from the getgo but it will be hailed as a Bush legacy and a couple years after Bush is out the next President will drop it. They are now crying it is too costly alongwith Medicare,Social Security, the tax cuts and the national debt. They say somewhere along the line these will have to be paid and the living standard will be lower for U.S. citizens. The "Golden Years".

: : : : So true, we need to get back into re-investing into our own society and our own country, instead of building other nations up through war and bogus free trade agreements just so the big fat-cats can get more of a profit. People keep trying to making this into rocket science, and it is not. You take good-paying jobs out of the country, and you have less of a tax basin to pay for or invest into services for the citziens of this country. You can do two things...1)Pay for this all by going in debt and put off the inevitable or 2)Keep slicing back, raising taxes and placing the debt on the individuals. We would not need to raise taxes if we could expand or increase our tax basin. There is not that much money out there to be taxed anymore. If we had more quality jobs, the taxes could be spread thinner, but we are going the complete opposite direction, believe me, the complete opposite. That is why we have witnessed the increased number people falling under the poverty level year after year. Something is wrong, but everybody wants to blame it on a GOP or Dem thing. Get over it and start looking at the real causes.
: : : I had a wise and wonderful Kittanning teacher that told the class that the more we give over to the government to take care of us/for us the more we have to pay and the chance to lose our civil liberties. We need to teach ourselves and our families to take care of ourselves and not depend so much on the goverment for assistance. I took that to be good advise.

: : Norma I am not takeing a hand out from the government,i worked 65 years to get the little i am getting, but still i have to pay for the medicare perscription program and i dont even need it. every time i turn the tv on it says the program is voluntary, that is a crock of you know what,if i dont take the program thru my insurance they will cancel my coverage, they are charging me twenty five dollars more on my premium and adding the drug coverage to my program, the same thing as going to the grocery store to by a loaf of bread and they tell you you have to buy a gallon of milk before you can by the bread. dont we live in a wonderfull free world????????
:
: Yes, we do live in a wonderfull free world. It is because we can make choices - my belief is that the teacher was trying to get us to wake up and do something about our future before we had to depend on the social structure to take care of us. I took it with a grain of salt (probably like most of us) and went on about life. I only mentioned the teacher's advise so that maybe we can enlighten the younger folks so that they won't be so dependent on the system. I will also depend on the system in a few more years upon my retirement - but I made my choices and have to live by them also.
It would be wonderful if we all could have made the right choices and things worked out the way it was planned but we all know that life usually doesn't work that way.Nowdays usually both parents in a family have to work so when grandma or grandpap gets too sick to care for it is off to the nursing home where they will go on medicaid ( even though they have assets to pay with, they are hidden for the kids to have). So people aren't paying the way, they are hiding assets and letting someone else pay the way.It woud be nice if everyone could pay their way but it will never be, are some people lazy and live off the system? sure , that will always be too. I still think if there were high paying local jobs available, people would flock to them. Most people want to work and have things and are proud of what they do, there just aren't enough good jobs in this area.
