: : : Might as well get used to it, doubt if her approval numbers will be as bad as Jethro's.

: : This country will be as bad or worse with Hillary in office. She will still tow the line for corporate interests and free trade agreements. Until we get somebody in the Oval Office that has the guts to stand up to the corporate fat cats, we will continue to face the same problems we see today.

: What does it mean to stand up to the corporate fat cats? More taxes? More federal control?

No, I am talking about evening out the playing field, especially with the free trade agreements which makes it impossible for our labor force to compete with, unless we want to admit as citizens of the U.S. that we are going to accept a huge decrease in our standard of living. Take a look around, the corporate tax breaks are not keeping companies from fleeing our borders. The current pattern is for these companies to blackmail the local, state and even federal government to a point of receiving limited tax-free status, and then when that time period expires, they take their business overseas. We cannot compete and maitanin our same standard of living. We were told decades ago that is it was the "union" factor that drove jobs out of this country, but as we have witnessed, non-union jobs are going overseas and union membership is down, and now we here it is regulations and taxes. Nobody is saying to bankrupt the corporation, but they should not be given a free ticket, either, unless we want to lower our community services, give up retirements, and maintain no health insurance. Look at the case with GM. Japanese labor costs are comparable to U.S. labor costs in the auto industry. German wages are higher. GM has failed to compete, plus one of their top expenses are healthcare costs. The reckless decisions made by the GM leadership were caused by them, but they want to recover these costs on the backs of their current workers and their retirees. As for the retirees, you, me and the people reading this will be the ones picking up the cost through our tax dollars if the retirement packages go belly up. GM spends $5.6 million on their healthcare benefits a year, more than it spends on their material for the automobiles. Somehow other countries are not experiencing these same problems. Much of these healthcare dollars are not even spent on the people they are poviding insurance for, instead, alot of that money is spent on their drive to compete with other insurance companies and marketing. The last statistics that I saw showed that 30 cents on every premium dollar was spent on marketing, advertising, and salary for their execs. I am not sure on the exact numbers for this year, but last year we had over 30 million people without health insurance, many of them working Americans, have no healthcare. Who do you think picks up the costs when these people go to the hospital or doctor? Medicaid, maybe? And you want to wonder why there is a Medicaid crisis throughout the states? Then, the number crunchers come up with the bright idea of cutting the Medicaid money to the states. Who is going to pick up the costs, now? Should the hospitals eat the bills? It is one big cycle of lunacy.

I have discussed this many times on the board. You can read some of it in the archives.
