Mike,
I want to say that the majority of the crew were extremely kind and patient and I'm sure you were one of them. I'm sure that you were asked the same questions 1000 times and had to say "back behind the cones" about 2000 times. I know that you all were probably exhausted and freezing most of the time and had to put up with all the over-zealous Gere fans. Thanks for being so nice.
2. The security guards - They actually told us (the adoring fans) a couple of times that Richard Gere is NOT here, so why are you standing here? The next thing you know out walks Mr Gere. Did they expect us to leave? Aaah, but Gere fans can't be fooled that easily.
It would have been nice to cut the fans (some who had travelled far and who had stood hours on end in the freezing cold) a break. Most of the fans were very cooperative. Several of us were thrown to the other side of the street (across from the trailers) because the security guards said (in so many words) you can't stand on this sidewalk (a public sidewalk I might add) because Mr Gere is a very private man. I know they were trying to do their job, but......
Alot of fans were disappointed that Mr Gere didn't acknowledge his fans with anything but a very distant wave on his last night. We really don't expect hugs and kisses, but I think a handshake, or a word or two would have been very nice. That would have been great PR. Maybe that is just not his style,or maybe he once had a really bad experience with fans.
3. The director was FANTASTIC! What a great guy! Patient, upbeat, positive, complimentary, etc. He stood for pictures with little old ladies, hugged them, and signed autographs and was more than accomodating. People will remember him and his kindness for a long time and I hope he is very succesfull. Thanks Mr Pellington for making your visit so personal!
And thanks again, Mike the PA - What does that stand for? Production Assistant? Good luck in your movie career.
