: : : As we all know the DJ position is open after the pasing of Jay Young. I have my thoughts about the 4 candidates that are trying to get in. I am leaning toward Paula LaStrapes. I have worked with her ona number of issues and find her very knowledgable and easy to work with. She does a lot of work with CYS, as well. I have also worked with Jamie Owens. He's good, very smart and is a tough negotiator. Also is the solicitor for the borough. Jack Heim is good but he stated when he retired 2 years ago that wanted to relax, maybe write a book. But the mandatory retirement age is 70 and Jack is 66. He was the attorney for the AC Public Housing Dept. Scahill to me is least qualified of the four. He didn't pass the certification exam and this makes him look takes away from his candidacy, in my opinion. The DJ is an important position and we need someone top notch.
: : : What do you all think//////////////// I think your right on most points, although Jack gets my vote.So he is 66,He can give the people 4 good years of service.I think he has been around the block a few times more than the other candidates and could read people better. And he is a very caring individual.

: That's the problem with this county. People want to live in the past. Let's move forward. Heim has been around the block TOO many times. Someone needs to get that position that isn't already retired. Put someone younger in there that can grow into the position, get a feel for things.

The most qualified candidate by far is Jamie Owen! He also has the most experience. He has an interest in the community and the youth of the community. He plans on making the District Justice job his primary job-he works 60 hours or more every week. He realizes that he is going to have cutback on his present law practice in order to make the District Judge job his primary job but he is very willing to do this. People need to know this!
