I think that the school boards should have to commit one way or another on Act 72 BEFORE May 30th...they should have to commit before May 17th...election day.
The problem with waiting until May 30th is this.
Most of us have determined that we want "opted in" and want to unseat those who vote to opt out. Personally I feel that UNLESS WE ARE "OPTED IN", ALL BOARD MEMBERS AT THE TIME OF THE VOTE ON ACT 72 SHOULD BE OUSTED. They may allow a few to vote "IN" just for show. However, since the elections are BEFORE the deadline, we have know way of knowing how the members will vote. Also, if we DO vote out a board member off the board, they will most likely vote to opt "OUT" just for spite. The ones we vote to keep could still vote to opt "OUT" and will retain thier seat for 4 years or until THE NEXT TIME THEY ARE UP FOR ELECTION.
They should have to vote on Act 72 BEFORE May 17th, or AT THE LEAST commit individually so we know how they are planning to vote.
There are only 13 days between the elections and the deadline, I don't think that this is an unreasonable request.
