: : : : I see some one gave Jane Fonda what she deserved and not the woman of the year nomanation I dont see why people would even by her book she is not worthy of being a citizan of this country but now she is making a fortune from a book written from the blood of our men and woman in the military and a lot are making her rich God bless our veterans they deserve better. three cheers for the guy that spit in her face at the book signing
: : : The book wasn't written from the blood of anyone, it is just a book, she is a 67 year old woman who opposed the War in Vietnam just like millions of other Americans, she also said the picture of her on the anti aircraft gun was wrong. Movie stars today are oppsing the war in Iraq- who can blame them!
: :
: : Sam I dont know how you can claim to be an american and defend the likes of her and her actions but i guess you are not a vet and know what it is all about but if you could put your self in the place of the vets that served in nam then i dont think you would feel any thing but hostility toward her and yes the book was written with the blood of our troops i don't think there are but a few who feels that she betrayed our troops and her country
:
: You are wrong again, I am a vet, a Vietnam vet and I saw a bunch of young fellas killed over there for nothing, sorry it wasn't for nothing, it was for big business, the war machine producing made money for them. Just like young people are getting killed in Iraq for nothing, the politicians use the young for their fodder, they don't care who is killed, because there family isn't there. I think Jane Fonda was wrong, but her actions didn't kill one American. If you remember the whole country was protesting the war, there were kids killed at Kent State protesting. When we went over I was told we were fighting communism, later I discovered that really wasn't the reason we were there. We landed at Danang airport and the first thing I saw was rows of caskets as far as you could see, I knew then this was a real war. Yes i love America , the people, but do not trust the government for one second, conservative, liberal, Republican or Democrat, find the right person to blame, not Jane Fonda.
I can agree with your assessment of the war. The motives were at the very least clouded.
I cannot agree with you about Hanoi Jane, though. If she would have spit in the faces of the politicians, I would not have a problem with it. I think the protests become questionable when you begin putting the blame on the soldiers who are just following orders of the smug politicians.
The same case goes today. I have been adament about displeasure with this farce that is occurring in Iraq. You want to talk about a politically-motivated war?? It would not make sense for me to protest or degrade the soldiers, instead I place the blame on those in charge, especially when they want to shield themsleves from all responsibility by distorting the facts. If the reason for war was not just, then they will just make things up, and I see this sad nation has bought into this gobbley-gook. I do not care if they are so-called "liberal" or "conservative."
One of the main reasons I have been an opponent of this war in Iraw dealt specifically to our brave young men and women that are doing the fighting. So, the theory about "if you do not support the war, then you do not support the troops" is fraudulent claim. Or, the better one, "if you do not support the President, then you do not support the troops." What a bunch of crap!
