: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : i dont understand why a lot of the people here bash kittanning...i have lived here for only a couple years and i think it is a nice place to live....my job requires me to work in a lot of small towns in western pa and let me tell you...all of them are worse than us....Mckees rocks....wilkinsburg....homestead.......i can go on and on...you walk through the street there and u see smashed up cars on the street ..lots and lots of garbadge,,,the only problem here is not enough jobs
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : It is the nature of people to complain , some complaints are reasonable others aren't.It just isn't the nature of people to get on here and say I love Kittanning because..... . The most famous military commanders always said the troops aren't happy unless they are bitching about something. And a lot of people aren't aware of how other people in other areas live.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Have you ever considered that the reason this town ISN'T like McKees Rocks or Wilkinsburg or Homestead is because we DO bitch about things, and WON"T let things happen here, like have happened there. It is when people STOP complaining that towns begin to go downhill. However, it is when the LIBERALS begin to complain that a town TRULY goes to Hell. When a town begins to cater to the dregs of humanity, who are given homes, who's bills are paid and who's crimes are allowed to go virtually unpunished... when a town begins to do more for these people than it is willing to do for decent citizens... that is when a town becomes a McKees Rocks or a Wilkinsburgh or a Homestead. The people who do not complain are the people who do not care.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : I agree with most everything you said, but to put the blame on "the liberals" just ruined your whole debate. The conservatives has equally participated in the decline of this once great economy. Start thinking outide the box of "right" versus "left" and things may get accomplished. Catering to one side or believing that one side is more responsible is the problem facing this whole nation. Take the topic of immigration. Look around Armstrong County with immigration. This was once labeled a "liberal" issue, but now we one of the most supposedly conservative Presidents who will not set any restrictions on the borders, but instead wants to naturalize all the ones in this country and allow them to collect government benefits.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Start thinking outside the box...it is way bigger than conservatives versus liberls, much bigger. Try Corporate America versus the commono folk, and I will agree with you.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : I am not speaking ONLY of those in office when I speak of "Liberals". I am speaking of all those who think that the answer to all the problems of the world are for those who HAVE to GIVE to those who HAVE NOT. This country is supposed to be the "Land of Opportunity" not the "Land of Charity". For those who truly need help, I am all for it, but this has become a country where decent working people must give up much of what they earn to support those who simply refuse to help themselves. The "Liberals" I speak of are the people who are not only okay with this, but are more than happy to find some reason why these people deserve to be supported by the rest of us. On the idea that little has been done by the Conservatives....maybe that's because they are not the "Religious Nuts" you have been told they are. If the "Liberals" had 8 years with this kind of control we would be living in a nationwide "slum" by 2020.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Let's also remember that it's the "Liberals" who have been pulling this "filibuster" crap for 4 years now, thus keeping the senate from VOTING on Supreme Court Justices.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : In your book is Jesus a liberal or conservative?
: : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : Liberal-favors proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress,tolerant of ideas and views of others
: : : : : : : : : : : : Conservative- favors traditional views and values, oppose change
: : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : The filibuster is democracy at work!? You gotta be kidding right? A filibuster is a direct block to the democratic process.
: : : : : : : : : : : Jesus was neither. He WAS a carpenter who worked for what he had. And watch what you say, they don't like it when we talk about him.
: : : : : : : : : : : Change is not always good. Especially if it is just change for the sake of change. Do you think we should all start driving on the left side of the road? That would be a change.
: : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : Never a fan of Slick Willie but the GOP did the same thing to him in 1994. Here are some views by former GOP Senate leader Orin Hatch:
: : : : : : : : : : (Quote)In defending a Republican-led filibuster on a judicial nomination in 1994, Hatch himself explained that the filibuster is “one of the few tools the minority has to protect itself and those the minority represents.” Moreover, during the Clinton administration, Senate Republicans blocked dozens of Clinton nominees with much less open and accountable procedures like secret holds. Fully one-third of Clinton’s appeals court nominees from 1995 through 2000 were kept off the bench – many without even a hearing or committee vote – while others were delayed for as long as four years.(Quote)
: : : : : : : : : : The GOP also did it in 1968 with LBJ. Abe fortas was blocked in his nomination to Chief Justice of the United States.
: : : : : : : : : : So,did you whine and complain then?
: : : : : : : : : : Filibuster does slow down the process, and is an effective tool for the minority. Now, with the Congress being held hostage by the GOP, they want to change the rules to suit them. Typical, very typical, and once again, see from above, hypocrisy at it's best. But, isn't this their nature? Why not change their selections and then address the filibuster issue?
: : : : : : : : : : Oh yeah, and Jesus as a conservative capenter made sure to use shoddy wood, and he contracted his work out to the Egyptians, because they could do it cheaper. Jesus spent all his time in the smoky boardrooms not as a carpenter, but intead, he strategized how to make a bigger profit off the backs of the rest of the workers. The only time he got labeled a liberal is when he healed the sick, because many conservatives could not believe he was offering healthcare.
: : : : : : : : : : There, you forgot to add that, also.
: : : : : : : : : : Just because they invoke his name in speeches dows not mean they are walking the walk. Look at your current President for the anithesis to that.
: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : >>>
: : : : : : : : : I don't care WHO uses it, filibusters are wrong. They as i said are nothing more than a way of blocking the process.
: : : : : : : : : I wasn't around in 1968, but I still think I would have been against anything L.B.J. stood for. The man sent our troops into Vietnam...but you never hear that do you? All you hear about is how Nixon was impeached for Watergate. What about the fact that the Dems got us INTO Vietnam and it was not untli the Republicans were in power that they we pulled out? Yet somehow all the people who to this day bitch about Vietnam think that Kennedy and the Dems were great and the GOP was evil. How many troops did Kennedy lure to thier death with "Ask not what your country can do..." Yeah...he was a great man.
: : : : : : : : : Sorry about that just had to get it off my chest.
: : : : : : : : : Anyhow.....
: : : : : : : : : Jesus in a boardroom, I'm not buyin' it.
: : : : : : : : : Why don't YOU tell ME what it is you want GW to do. It seems he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't....If he were trying to pass anti-abortion legislation you'd bitch that he was a conservative-religious nut. If he doesn't try to pass it you'll call him a hypocrite....Which is it? What do YOU want him to do?...Just so we're clear here.
: : : : : : : : : >>>>>
: : : : : : : : : >>>>>

: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : Like I said, when you trying towing EITHER party line, you are playing into the system.
: : : : : : : : Hey, it is simple for Gee Dubbya. If you are going to use passages from Scripture and invoke God's name, then live by them.
: : : : : : : : I can tell you will never get it, because you are in the box. When you begin mixing ANY religion with politics (notice I said any relgions, so you do not focus on the anti-Christian theme), you are on dangerous ground.
: : : : : : : : The last few days I have been looking for some historic information of our country. I am trying to compare the statements of Senator and Gee-Dubbya henchman Bill Frist. The people who are trying to block the judge selections are "against people of faith?" Do you know how scary that it is? Conservatives and many relgious groups have come out and have made statements against his comments.
: : : : : : : : When you begin labeling people "anti-God," "anti-Christian" or "anti-faith" because they do not agree with your political views and you make it a blanket statement for the opposing view, watch out! People like you have already drank too much Kool-aid to see it.
: : : : : : : : The Dems won WWII. What does that got to do with Gee-Dubbya. Straying away from the current is a tactic used when answers cannot be produced.
: : : : : : : >
: : : : : : : Don't act like you know how I think, because you don't.
: : : : : : Okay, but it is okay for you to judge others on what they think or do. Like I said, the proof is in the pudding, people. You have to "do as they and not as they do" and then you live up to their standards. Give me a break.
: : : :
: : : : :
: : : : : Kennedy was dead when Vietnam was in it's heyday, Johnson was the President and then Nixon was in at the end.Blame Vietnam on big business , Democrats and Republicans together. We are stupid, we let these so called government leaders use us to get them in, they want to classify you liberal or conservative, it is all bull, the George Bush,s, Tom Delay's, Hillary Clinton's needs us only to vote for them, they could care less whether you have a job, house or food on your plate.
: : : : A second that.
: : : >
: : : Yes, I am aware that Kennedy was dead. However it was his administration that lead to the U.S. involvement in Vietnam...that's what the whole "Ask not what your country can do for you.." speech was about. Johnson was actually in office when we first sent troops into Vietnam, but only because Kennedy was shot. Then after Nixon was in office we began to pull out. Yet when you hear people speak about that era, all you hear about is what a great president Kennedy was and how Nixon was impeached. Why isn't there such distain toward Kennedy and Johnson when the Liberals complain about the "attrocities" of Vietnam?
:
: : I have always heard the disdain being poured out on "politicians" in general. Some of the so-called "liberals" did speak out against the war. Where were the supposed-conservatives speaking out over these liberal-initiated motives? I still hear holding government as a whole to blame for Vietnam. Nixon came into power when the American conscience was boiling over, and I agree the past Presidents were to blame just as much or even more.
: : Unlike you, I do not look at things as being a "liberal vs. conservative" type of country. Those days are long gone, because both are breastfeeding off the corporations. I bet the majority of Americans have views that entail both liberal and conservative agendas, but they listen to the radio and TV and allow themselves to fall into the trap of believing there are only two fierce platforms out there. Come on!
: : I like ranting on the conservatives, because they portray themselves as being sooooo self-righteous, and they are the biggest hypocrites out there. I rant on the Dems, because they are supposedly (wink, wink) for the working man, but they promote and endorse free trade agreements that has sucked this economy down the drain.
: : I just hope more people will begin laying down their liberal and conservative spears and stand up to both parties as a whole.
: :
: >
: I agree on that last part. However, niether the Conservatives or the Liberals know everything.
: What IS WRONG is that as soon as someone makes the "mistake" of saying he believes in God, or morality for that matter he is labeled a religious-nut conservative.
: It is the opinion of these people that the Conservatives have caused all the problems of the country. They think that if the Conservatives were out of the way, and the Liberals had free reign, all our troubles would be over.
: I am merely pointing out that not all of the problems of the world are to blame on the Conservative Republicans, as the Liberal Democrats would have us believe.
And not all of the problems of the world are not because of LIBERALS. I hear that more than the CONSERVATIVES being the root of all evil. Turn on the majority of the radio-talk shows. You would think that LIBERALS are some evil cult out there to kidnap and brainwash your children.
I will give you that this is occurring, BUT I will tell you that is what they want, because most of the issues they butt heads about are cosmetic, while the economic part of our society keeps being ruined and our rights and liberties are stripped away.
As for the God issue, I have no problem with it. I am a Christian, but I find it appalling to have people like Santorum, Frist and G.W. Bush stating God is on "their" side. I could take this and accept this from a person I meet or a neighbor down the street, but then if they go out and murder or steal from somebody they lose all credibility as being a Christian. It was all words, and this is what I keep hearing from these guys. If a LIBERAL did this, I would give them the works, also.
