: : : With the high costs of taxes, fuel and healthcare and the degradation of wages, I was ondering how many would admit that we are experiencing the decreased standard of living in the United States?
: : : This is not all a production of George W. Bush. It has been occurring for awhile. Clinton signed NAFTA. George W. Bush wants to sign CAFTA (Central American Free Trade Agreement), and the list continues.
: : : Why do have more people living under poverty guidelines now then ever before?
: : : Have we taken a step backwards?

: : I believe we have, no matter how good some say it is, and I think the rest of the world, not all, are catching up to us.I think China and India are making moves that will hurt us.We are becoming importers instead of exporters.

: I agree about Walmart. I remember when they first opened and how they bragged about no more than 3 in a line. Then once they knocked the competition out, they forgot all about that rule. What good is it to have 16 lines if you only have 3 people working at them? I also make it a habit to NEVER use the self checkout for the same reasons...I feel they take the place of paying a cashier. Next thing you know, it will all be automated. Anything they can to save a buck. I also rarely buy food from Walmart either. I know it is cheaper there, but wait until the food stores are knocked out of business and then see how much everything costs. If things don't start changing, I predict 20 years from now all we will see is Walmarts and the empty buildings of all their competitors. Then we'll see how great their prices will be!
Yes, you are correct! They DID make boasts of no more than 3 to a line. They ALSO bragged about how most of thier products were "Made in America". WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED? As soon as they killed of all thier competitors, they began bringing in more and more imports. Go up there right now. Pick out 10 items without looking at where they were made. I'll guarantee you won't have more than 2 items in your cart that were made in the U.S. (if any at all)
