Dear Richard Gere:
I may not be your biggest fan.
However, I admire your talent and can respect hard work and long hours.
Please forgive this rather unorthodox approach, but every professional approach taken so far has resulted in a dead-end.
JOHN A. KEEL (The Mothman Prophesies, Jadoo, Operation Trojan Horse, Our Haunted Planet, Creatures From Time and Space, The Eighth Tower, Disneyland of the Gods, etc) currently serves as a Consulting Editor at FATE (circulation 40,000+) and has enjoyed a long and mutually rewarding relationship with the magazine. His column, "Beyond The Known," enjoys a wide readership and appeal. Personally, I have followed John's work from the 1960s and we have corresponded from time to time.
As a tribute to John Keel, who is very much up in years but still contributing, I am writing a MOTHMAN PROPHECIES article for FATE that features the filming of the movie in Kittanning.
I have written Ed Limato at International Creative Management (unanswered)... exchanged e-mails with Robert Burke, VP Worldwide Marketing, Lakeshore Entertainment, who informed me that "I will forward your request to the Unit Publicist and to Sony Screen Gems. Please know that Richard Gere prefers a closed set and that it is very unlikely that your request will be granted. You should receive a return reply from the UP or from Sony" (none to date)... and spoke by telephone to Michael Umble, who, I believe, is the local "Mothman" publicist.
All too soon, filming here will be completed. All opportunities for an interview or photos will be gone.
