: : : : Did anyone see in the local paper the 2 purse snatchings that happen last week, here in K-Town? One by Sprankle's in the alley with a 80 yr old and the other between the banks with a 60 yr old woman, both in daylight. It makes you wonder what's happening around here in our small town. I have a feeling that it's linked to drugs, they needed the money to buy some. It a damn shame when you can't even walk in our small town without the fear of being robbed. I hope they catch them and get them help before it's too late. Sounds like they were pretty young and they need some help.

: : : When the economy goes into the tank, crime always increases. History has shown us that. Put your seatbelt on, because this is only the beginning. You cut social services and job opportunities to make a decent living are limited, crime will definitely rise. The worse it gets, the more people will be involved in illegal activity. It is the nature of the beast. This is the new America, but only a few see it.

: : I agree to an extent that a poor economy leads to increased crime. This particular case may or may not have anything to do with drugs. The solution to the problem is not in fixing the economy or treating drug problems, it's PROSECUTING the people who commit the criminal action. As a whole it seems society is more interested in the maximum sentence being imposed for a man who is deemed "too drunk" to be in public than a common thief, or for that matter a child molester. If you really want to see the crime rate go down, impose maximum sentences, move the welfare office OUT OF THIS TOWN and crack down on section 8.

: What in the world does section 8 have to do with it? To be on section 8 you have to go thru a background check and if you fail you don't get it. Also, if you get into truoble with drugs, etc. you are kicked out of the program, so the troubles of the times have nothing to do with section 8 housing. Get the facts.....

: Just cause people get help with section 8 doesn't make them criminals. Yes there are always a few to spoil the program name, but all in all, it's a good program. I think they have changed alot of the years, for the good.. So we can't always assume that people on section 8 are trouble makers..
