: : : : : So, I would like somebody to explain to me how this good for our country? Maybe these cuts are some of the those things that if you think budget cuts for police and fire protection then you are unpatriotic or an evil-doer.
: : : : : Where are all the poems and praises that magnify what these cuts mean? Boy, there were alot of people backing this administation in patriotic fervor just a short time ago. How about those cuts for prescription and medical coverage for the elderly and the disabled. Where are all the poems stating how great this is for us as a country? Benefits are being cut for people in the nursing homes. Let's get those American flags and wave them some more. We are cutting more and more for our own people while we nation-build across the world.
: : : : : Look at these depressed areas that we live in and around us. People have been tossed out on their behind from good-paying jobs and left with no healthcare for their families.
: : : : : Remember, you got four more years of this stuff. I hope God does bless this country because are going to need it.//////I wonder how many people that voted for Bush,After reading this artical,And will be truthfull,Would now like to take their vote back,It sure look's as though we are in deep do-do.
: : :
: : : Thank you Mr. President for stepping forward to make the hard choices that have to be made. Thank you for taking steps to shore up social security and give us all alternatives before it goes belly up. Thank you for standing firm against terror and not allowing the U.N to dictate how this Country will defend itself. Thank you, Mr. President. Great Job!
: : Sb3, i can understand your joy, but what about these cuts, do you support them? Let it on the public record so we know where you are coming from? You think it is good that we cut support for local law enforcement and fire protection?? This can be answered with a "yes" or "no."
: : Forget all your propoganda about the affairs of the world, because it is merely proponganda until we see the outcome within what time periods. But. I would like to seei fyou support these cuts across the board??
: : Cone on sb3, yes or no?
: Actually, it isn't that simple. I have been looking for information that provides a totally nonpartisan look at the proposed budget - very hard to find. I may lean right, but I am willing to critique when appropriate. But I am not willing to say that every cut is bad. In this government, we don't get rid of bad programs. We throw more money at them and then begin another bad program.
: We are in a war and while I would rather not re-hash the yeas and nays of that, you would have to admit that it ain't cheap to fight a war. Let's do what we gotta do and get the h--- out as quickly as possible.
: We also know that the president is fully aware that he won't get passed anywhere near the cuts he has proposed. Perhaps its just the way of making people sit up and take notice.
: I won't support cuts to our servicemen and women, nor any illigitimate cuts to firefighters, police or the weakest among us, but I will support responsible stewardship in office. Just my opinion.
You can view the proposed cuts as they stand on-line.
I can agree with you on some cuts, but like you said, that would be digging th war figures up, again. You want to talk about throwing money into wasteful entities....look at some of the private contracts issued within the Department of Defense. We have contracted away the jobs that the military used to do such as the mial service, laundry service, etc. There is no doubt that these services were much cheaper and more efficent when the military was in charge of these services.
You are correct that some or many of these cuts will not be passed fully, but the proposal puts them on the table meaning that they are more likely to face cuts. I am bi-partisan, also, but in saying that I do believe in regulation for the reasons that i have stated before (i.e. the collusion of government in bed with private companies is not capitalism at all). If you want to stop some of these soaring healthcare and prescription costs, then you need at least some form of regulation.
The mere request for those costs to the VA and the veterans is appalling at the very least. it is a lack of respect for those who are defending this nation. What kind of message does this send, even if if they are just proposals.
Putting the burden of medical costs such as those of families who have people in nursing homes is disgusting and reckless. We are moving back 30 years and will drain families of everything they worked for just to provide care to a loved one. So much for the compassionate conservatism. What we could possibly see is a step back in time when we have people being placed in facilities with less quality just because people cannot afford the quality of care in current nursing homes.
The cuts to fire companies and law enforcement agencies is just as disgusting. Here is the guy who cloaked himself around these agencies during the events of 09/11 and now he wants to take away the low-interest loans that was offered to these agencies. Most of the loans were used for such as new vehicles and equipment to help these entities survive.
I am not in favor of sacrificing the domestic programs for the citizens of this country while continue to fight a mismanaged war.
Add ot all of these cuts that we are still spending tons of money and expanding a constant inflating debt for the future. It just does not make sense.
Sad, very sad.
