: : : : Are Americans going to be so gullibe to believe that Social Security is sooooooo bad that we need to privatice it??? Seriously, I do not look at this as a GOP or Dem topic, I just think we are all going freaking nuts, if we believe in this garbage that the current administration is spewing forth. : : : : I have quite a good grasp on the whole subject, and I know that every president since George H.W. Bush, Clinton included, were using the interest from the Social Security fund as revenue to balance budgets, but is the solution to privatize it??? : : : : Does this not say something about the political parties that are in control of "the system" at this time?? : : : : I have not heard this much fear propoganda put out since around January 2003, when we were told that Iraq had some great arsenal of WMDs. I am not going to argue that, because it is a non-issue. If you want to believe that the Boogey-Man of the survival of America was in Iraq, then I will agree with you. I do not want to argue that topic. : : : : But, I just want opinions on the subject of the propoganda of Social Security. Is this not the same fear-mongering techniques they used for the WMDs in Iraq? : : : : In my opinion this is just a process to turn over the hard-earned money of workers to private companies. I ma not a fan of Big Government, but I sure in the hell do not trust the "corporate creep" that has been disguising itself as less government in politics. : : : : "Yeahh, okay, we hate big government, so we should trust "Corporate America." These are the same ruthless people that base everything on the market. They would even seel their own shares if there was a wide-margin of profit for them. : : : : Just tell me, are we that stupid of a society to honestly to drink this propoganda juice that they are feeding us. : : : : : : : Go to Fact Check.org, they state flatly, there is no crisis, this administration uses scare tactics as their main means to get a message across. Many people believe everything they hear, I hope enough strong voices in both parties can avoid this big mistake they are trying to push on the American public. Bush wants to change Social Security for his legacy, something to remember him by as if Iraq isn't enough. He thinks he can push American democracy on Iraq but the people don't want it, they thought their vote would help get Americans out of their country. We will have troops there for decades, Iran and Syria are next. : : : Marine and Army sign ups are down, wonder why? I am almost happy Kerry lost , all this BS will be on Bush's shoulders.We need our young men and women out of Iraq... : : : : I would rather invest myself than have the government do it for me. Long term , the SS is going to run out. You leftist boneheads can blame Bush all you want but he did not create the demographics that are going to create a problem. Go ahead and keep your head in the sand like the majority of democratic party losers and enjoy eating the dogfood when you retire at 65. : What statistics are you reading saying that Social Security is going to go bankrupt? : I am not saying this to be confrontational, but I would like to see the data you are reviewing to come to this opinion? : If you have read my posts, I criticize the Dems right along with the GOP. The gutting of the Social Security trust fund began with George H.W. Bush and continued with Clinton using it spendable revenue. Gee-Dubbya has even backed up on his rhetoric. Remember when he started this crusade to privatize Social Security, he said the sky would fall in 2018, now he has backed it up to 2042. : : If you look long-term, I agree that Social Security has the possibility of running out as do many other programs, when it is not safeguarded properly. Does that mean you overhaul the whole system? : You say that you are keen enough to invest your money. I hate to break the news to you, but you are not going to have that option with Bush's proposal for the Social Security program. The government will select and place the earnings into specific companies. You will not have control over the earnings. That is not my opinion or belief. That is coming straight from the proposal. So, you do not like government holding your money, but you would trust them to invest it? Hmmm? You can review the proposal and correct me if I am wrong, but I am up to that challenge.
